Sue

Wife, stepmom, Grandmother (“Susie”), daughter, aunt, sister, dog mom and friend. I believe in kindness, loyalty and responsibility. I was raised by my parents and as a kid I was a loving, shy, tomboy. I’d say I’m an extrovert and one of my strengths is that I'm a really great listener. Since as early as I can remember, I have feared failure and disappointing others, and though at times I feel defined by this fear, I just try to be the best I can be. I worry most about losing a loved one. There's been times throughout my life when I’ve felt like I didn't fit in because of my sexual orientation. My biggest emotional insecurity is around acceptance. The best day of my life though, was meeting my wife Paula. She is my best friend, my confidant and my rock and we have been together for almost 24 years. My favorite physical attributes are my eyes and my dimple (I have one). I'm most insecure about my stomach. But, I'd tell a friend with the same insecurity that body type does not define us. I wish I could tell 12 year old me to be authentic, I’d say, be yourself, not what others want you to be. I wish there was more kindness and less hatred in the world. Success comes from balancing a good home-life and work-life. Happiness comes from loving yourself and others, and from spreading kindness. Beauty is found in a great attitude and in those who are a great friends to others. I’m excited about my future with my wife by my side. In 10 years I hope to be retired and travelling with Paula. I'm most proud of my work ethic. I wish people knew that if they have me as a friend they have me as a friend for life. I am strong, patient, loyal and confident. I am Sue. I’m caring and I’m creative and I love to inspire others to be better.
